Two 18-year-olds were among three suspects held in connection with a home invasion in which a quantity of valuables and cash was stolen from a family at their Kelly Village home on Friday night.
Police said a 29-year-old man was alone on the second floor of the house on Boysie Trace at around 7.40 pm when he heard the family’s pet dog barking.
He then heard loud banging and, on checking, noticed the second-floor door had been prised open, but did not see anyone.
The man reported that C$400, a Canadian passport and a quantity of jewellery had been stolen from the house.
Officers of the Caroni Police Station visited the scene and gathered evidence.
Hours later, officers of the Multi Operational Police Section (MOPS) received information on the location of the suspects and went to a nearby riverbank, where they arrested the trio, all of whom are from Caroni.
The suspects remain in custody and are expected to be charged.
