Adverse weather alert discontinued, but rain still in the forecast

The coun­try's alert sta­tus has been down­grad­ed to GREEN as the Trinidad and To­ba­go Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice has dis­con­tin­ued its ear­li­er Ad­verse Weath­er Alert-Yel­low Lev­el.

Ac­cord­ing to the most re­cent ad­vi­so­ry from the Met Ser­vice, there is “a medi­um chance (40%) of a few heavy show­ers or thun­der­storm” oc­cur­ring to­day over To­ba­go and north­ern Trinidad, but “the po­ten­tial for im­pact­ful weath­er has de­creased sub­stan­tial­ly over the last few hours.”

Ear­li­er to­day, dur­ing the peak pe­ri­od of the Yel­low Lev­el Alert, sev­er­al parts of the coun­try ex­pe­ri­enced heavy rains and some flood­ing, with wa­ter runoff tak­ing place fair­ly quick­ly.

The TTMS team ad­vis­es cit­i­zens to “re­main vig­i­lant to chang­ing weath­er con­di­tions in your vicin­i­ty”.

Fore­cast­ers note that cloudy con­di­tions will con­tin­ue in­to tonight with a few overnight show­ers. In ad­di­tion, gusty winds, street/flash flood­ing may oc­cur in heavy show­ers and thun­der­storms!
