The Port of Spain City Corporation will host its annual City Day Parade tomorrow as part of celebrations marking 112 years of service, unity and excellence.
In a social media post, the corporation invited members of the public to view the procession, which is scheduled to begin at 10.30 am.
The event will start with an official inspection at the Queen’s Park Savannah in front of the Grand Stand. After a brief hydration break, participants will proceed along a route through the capital.
A major feature of the parade will be the Mayoral Salute opposite City Hall on Knox Street, where the Mayor will receive the official salute and participating detachments will perform an “Eyes Right”.
The procession will begin at the Queen’s Park Savannah before heading south along Frederick Street. Participants will then turn west onto Duke Street, south onto Pembroke Street and east onto Knox Street for the Mayoral Salute.
Following the salute, the parade will continue south along Frederick Street before turning east onto Prince Street and south onto Henry Street. The route will then proceed west along Independence Square North, north onto Frederick Street and conclude on Hart Street at Woodford Square, where the official dismissal will take place.
The corporation also advised motorists that rolling road closures and traffic restrictions will be implemented along the parade route for the duration of the event.
Drivers have been urged to plan their travel accordingly and follow directions from traffic law enforcement officers.
