Man dead, woman wounded after Sea Lots drive-by

A dri­ve-by shoot­ing in Sea Lots in the ear­ly hours of Sat­ur­day morn­ing end­ed with the death of a 33-year-old man and the wound­ing of a woman, po­lice said.

Po­lice said Christo­pher Samp­son (alias 'Bri­an') was lim­ing with a group of peo­ple near the Sea Lots Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­tre on Pi­o­neer Dri­ve, when a white Hon­da City drove near them.

Gun­shots were heard as the car sped off. Res­i­dents no­ticed Samp­son and a 21-year-old woman bleed­ing.

Res­i­dents took the wound­ed per­sons to hos­pi­tal where Samp­son was de­clared dead at 1:27 am.

Sources con­firmed the woman was in sta­ble con­di­tion as of Sat­ur­day morn­ing.

Of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion and In­ter Agency Task Force (IATF) vis­it­ed the scene and found 34 spent 5.56 shells and 3 spent 7.62 shells.

Of­fi­cers of the Re­gion I Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
