One dead, two wounded in Arouca drive-by shooting

A 25-year-old man was killed and two oth­ers wound­ed in a dri­ve-by shoot­ing in Arou­ca on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice said Adri­an Meade was sit­ting in the front pas­sen­ger seat of a white Hon­da Fit with two oth­er men on Roy­al Prom­e­nade Road, near a bar, around 11 pm when a white Hyundai Elantra pulled up near­by.

Gun­men in the Elantra re­port­ed­ly opened fire on the men be­fore dri­ving away.

Meade was killed in the at­tack, while the two oth­er oc­cu­pants of the Hon­da Fit were wound­ed.

Po­lice said the dri­ver of the Hon­da Fit drove away from the scene be­fore stop­ping near Mar­ket Street.

Of­fi­cers of the Arou­ca Po­lice Sta­tion and North-Cen­tral Di­vi­sion re­spond­ed and were told the wound­ed men had al­ready been tak­en to hos­pi­tal by am­bu­lance.

A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer lat­er vis­it­ed the scene and de­clared Meade dead.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors re­cov­ered sev­er­al spent 5.56 shell cas­ings and nine 9mm shell cas­ings at the scene.

The Hon­da Fit was lat­er towed to the Spe­cial Ev­i­dence Re­cov­ery Unit (SERU) in Cu­mu­to for fur­ther analy­sis.

Of­fi­cers of the Re­gion II Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
