$500m Marriott hotel sod-turning set for Tuesday

The sod will be turned for the $500 mil­lion Mar­riott ho­tel at Rocky Point on Tues­day.

The event is ex­pect­ed to be at­tend­ed by sev­er­al dig­ni­taries, in­clud­ing Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar and Chief Sec­re­tary Far­ley Au­gus­tine. The four-star ho­tel will fea­ture 200 rooms, vil­las, town­hous­es and recre­ation­al ameni­ties.

Au­gus­tine has spo­ken glow­ing­ly about the project, which is ex­pect­ed to boost both the quan­ti­ty and qual­i­ty of To­ba­go’s room stock. The project is al­so ex­pect­ed to cre­ate hun­dreds of jobs dur­ing the con­struc­tion phase.
