Member of Parliament for Port of Spain North/St Ann’s West, Stuart Young, has met with Acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez.

Young posted an image on his social media pages a short while ago, showing him shaking hands with Rodríguez at the Miraflores Palace in Venezuela.

He captioned the photo, “It was a pleasure meeting with Her Excellency, Delcy Rodríguez, Presidenta Encargada, of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, earlier this week. #personagrata”

The meeting comes one week after Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced that a diplomatic delegation would visit Venezuela soon to “ensure we get our just share” of cross-border oil and gas resources.

Guardian Media reached out to the Prime Minister on this development and she replied, “good luck with that Stuarty.”

In October last year, Venezuela’s National Assembly declared Persad-Bissessar “persona non grata,” as it accused her government of supporting United States military aggression against the Bolivarian Republic.

However, PM Persad-Bissessar dismissed then-Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s comments as meaningless.
