Woman kidnapped and raped after hiring taxi

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the al­leged kid­nap­ping and rape of a woman by a taxi dri­ver and pas­sen­ger on Mon­day night.

Po­lice said the woman en­tered a taxi at the San Juan Taxi Stand at around 10.30 p.m. and sat in the front pas­sen­ger seat, while a man sat in the back.

She told po­lice she asked the dri­ver to take her to the Croisee.

How­ev­er, when they reached the John John traf­fic lights on the out­skirts of Port of Spain, the pas­sen­ger al­leged­ly or­dered her to move to the back seat.

The woman said she com­plied be­cause she feared for her safe­ty.

Po­lice said the dri­ver then made a U-turn and head­ed back to­wards Port of Spain, dri­ving through Mar­aval be­fore stop­ping at the Mara­cas Look­out.

The woman al­leged that both men raped her be­fore drop­ping her off at an undis­closed lo­ca­tion.

She lat­er went to the Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion, where she made a re­port.
