West Indian Tobacco Company (WITCO) has reaffirmed its commitment to developing young professionals through its 2026 A.I.M. (Accelerate, Innovate, Motivate) Internship Programme.

The programme, which recently concluded, provided six second and third-year university students with hands-on experience across various areas of the company’s operations.

Over the course of the internship, the students participated in structured training sessions, professional development workshops, leadership engagements and real-world business projects.

WITCO said the programme was designed to strengthen the interns’ technical, professional and interpersonal skills while exposing them to the demands and opportunities of the corporate environment.

The interns were also given opportunities to contribute to business projects, allowing them to apply their academic knowledge to practical workplace challenges.

According to the company, the programme encouraged innovation, collaboration and critical thinking while providing participants with meaningful exposure to the workplace.

WITCO said the A.I.M. Internship Programme forms part of its broader talent development strategy and is aimed at supporting youth employability and professional development in Trinidad and Tobago.

The company said the 2026 cohort made significant contributions during their time with the organisation, with several interns subsequently being offered opportunities to continue their professional journey with WITCO.

The company views the programme as an investment not only in its future workforce but also in the wider development of young professionals.

With a history spanning more than 120 years, WITCO said it remains committed to creating opportunities for young people to develop critical skills and gain experience that can prepare them for leadership roles.

The company said initiatives such as A.I.M. are intended to help empower the next generation of professionals while contributing to the continued growth and development of Trinidad and Tobago.

The 2026 programme builds on WITCO’s ongoing efforts to provide university students with practical experience and exposure to a professional environment before they enter the workforce full-time.
