A Venezuelan woman was stabbed to death during a domestic dispute in Enterprise, Chaguanas, early yesterday morning.
According to police reports, around 3 am, Kelimar Del Jesus Duran Morillo was at her apartment on Goodwill Road, Enterprise, when she had an argument with a man she knew well, who is also a Venezuelan migrant.
The man reportedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Morillo three times before running away. Morillo was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope, where she died while receiving emergency treatment. The suspect, who is wanted by police officers investigating Morillo’s death, was not detained up to late yesterday.
Morillo is the second Venezuelan woman to be stabbed to death in central Trinidad in less than a month. On June 14, 28-year-old Mariannys Jimenez, who resided at Kelly Village, Caroni, was attacked by a man in Chaguanas.
She and a colleague were on their way to work at a Chinese restaurant located along the Montrose Main Road in Chaguanas when the attack occurred. Her colleague escaped unscathed as she ran into a nearby supermarket, while the man repeatedly stabbed Jimenez.
The suspect in Jimenez’s killing, also believed to be a fellow Venezuelan migrant, is yet to be arrested.
Homicide detectives are continuing investigations into both murders. —Derek Achong
