Valencia cutlass attack leaves man seriously injured

A heat­ed ar­gu­ment be­tween two men in Va­len­cia es­ca­lat­ed in­to a cut­lass at­tack on Fri­day af­ter­noon, leav­ing one man with se­ri­ous in­juries and an­oth­er in po­lice cus­tody.

Po­lice said the in­ci­dent hap­pened around 3:30 p.m. at a house in La Pla­ta Gar­dens, Va­len­cia, where the vic­tim and sev­er­al oth­er peo­ple were gath­ered.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said a ver­bal dis­pute be­tween the two men es­ca­lat­ed in­to a phys­i­cal con­fronta­tion be­fore they were sep­a­rat­ed by those present.

How­ev­er, po­lice said the sus­pect lat­er re­turned armed with a cut­lass and at­tacked the vic­tim, in­flict­ing sev­er­al wounds to the head, neck and up­per body.

Of­fi­cers from the Va­len­cia Po­lice Post and the Va­len­cia CID re­spond­ed to the re­port.

The in­jured man was tak­en by am­bu­lance to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

Po­lice said the sus­pect was still at the scene when of­fi­cers ar­rived. He was cau­tioned and tak­en in­to cus­tody as in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ued.

Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tors were ex­pect­ed to process the scene as in­quiries con­tin­ue.
