The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is urging the public to exercise restraint and responsibility in commentary surrounding the disappearance of two-year-old Angelo Tobias of Goodwood, Tobago, as search efforts continue.
Police said the matter remains an active and highly sensitive investigation, following reports that the child went missing on Monday 11th May, 2026.
The TTPS confirmed that a coordinated multi-agency search was launched immediately, covering areas around the child’s home and extending to nearby coastal waters where he was last reportedly seen.
Several individuals have been interviewed and statements recorded as investigators continue to pursue all possible lines of inquiry.
The Homicide Bureau of Investigations and the Special Victims Department have also been brought in to assist with the case, which remains classified as a missing person investigation.
The TTPS said investigators are adopting a wide and methodical approach, including examination of parental responsibility issues, with the child’s parents currently assisting police with enquiries.
Commissioner of Police has directed additional resources to the case, including support from the Child Protection Unit and the assignment of a legal officer from Trinidad to strengthen the investigation.
However, police stressed that public commentary and the circulation of material online could interfere with investigative efforts.
The TTPS warned that sharing information which may form part of the investigation, or has already been provided to police, could prejudice the integrity of the case.
Authorities are appealing for anyone with information that could assist in locating Angelo Tobias to contact the Scarborough Police Station, call 555, 800-TIPS, or Tobago 211.
The TTPS said updates will be provided as soon as further verified information becomes available.
