The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has launched an investigation into a graphic video circulating on social media that appears to show a violent assault involving several men in a heavily vegetated area.

The TTPS said in a media release that investigators are working to determine the origin, authenticity, location and timeframe of the footage.

Police said they cannot confirm where the incident occurred, whether in Matelot, Sans Souci, Toco, Valencia or elsewhere, and have not identified the victim.

The Eastern Division, supported by the Homicide Bureau of Investigations and the Cyber Crime and Social Media Unit, is pursuing all leads, including missing persons reports.

The TTPS urged the public not to share the video and to provide any information to assist the investigation.
