Three detained, firearm and ammo seized in South Western Division

In­tel­li­gence-led an­ti-crime op­er­a­tions in the South West­ern Di­vi­sion have led to the ar­rest of three peo­ple and the seizure of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion.

In a state­ment is­sued, po­lice said around 5 pm on May 22, of­fi­cers of the South West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force (East and West), while on ex­er­cise du­ty, went to a res­i­dence at Lake View, Point Fortin, in ac­cor­dance with Reg­u­la­tions 8 and 12 of the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions, by virtue of Le­gal No­tice No. 40 of 2026.

Dur­ing a search of the premis­es, con­duct­ed in the pres­ence of a 36-year-old man and his 19-year-old as­so­ciate of Bha­ga­loo Street, En­ter­prise, of­fi­cers dis­cov­ered one Glock pis­tol fit­ted with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing six rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion.

Both men were ar­rest­ed as nei­ther was the hold­er of a Firearm User’s Li­cence, a Firearm User’s Em­ploy­ee Cer­tifi­cate, nor ex­empt­ed un­der Sec­tion 7 of the Firearms Act.

Fur­ther en­quiries at the lo­ca­tion al­so led to the re­cov­ery of one 75-inch Sam­sung tele­vi­sion, which is sus­pect­ed to have been stolen.

A 45-year-old woman, iden­ti­fied as the own­er and oc­cu­pant of the premis­es, was al­so de­tained in con­nec­tion with the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

The ex­er­cise was spear­head­ed by Snr Supt Thomp­son and co­or­di­nat­ed by Ag ASP Cor­rie and Ag ASP Forbes.
