A 16-year-old boy has been charged with several counts of harassment following investigations into cyber-related threats made against students and staff of Rio Claro East Secondary School between November 2025 and February 2026.
Police said the charges stem from reports of bomb threats and threatening messages sent through SMS and TikTok accounts operating under several aliases.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), officers of the Eastern Division carried out extensive investigations with support from the Cyber and Social Media Unit (CSMU).
Investigators said several electronic devices were seized from the teenager’s home after warrants were obtained under the Interception of Communications Act.
Police also said the CSMU traced several IP addresses linked to the TikTok accounts used in the matter.
The threatening messages reportedly contained references to shootings, explosives, death threats and targeted attacks against students and members of staff. Investigators said the material was subjected to detailed analysis as part of the investigation.
The charges were laid following legal advice from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Ms Bhola on Friday.
The investigations were led by W/Cpl Farrier of the Eastern Division.
