Six robbery suspects arrested and gun seized

Six peo­ple, in­clud­ing two teenage boys, were ar­rest­ed and a home­made shot­gun with am­mu­ni­tion seized dur­ing sep­a­rate an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es in Cen­tral and North Cen­tral Trinidad.

The ar­rests and seizure took place be­tween Wednes­day night and Thurs­day morn­ing.

Dur­ing Op­er­a­tion Res­olute Shield, con­duct­ed be­tween 4 pm and 8 pm on Thurs­day, of­fi­cers car­ried out ex­er­cis­es in the En­ter­prise, Long­denville, Ch­agua­nas, Char­lieville and Ca­roni po­lice dis­tricts.

Based on in­tel­li­gence re­ceived, of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to a bushy area along Ca­roni North Bank Road, Ca­roni.

About 100 me­tres in­to the bush­es, of­fi­cers found an un­oc­cu­pied makeshift wood­en struc­ture.

A search of the struc­ture led to the dis­cov­ery of a black plas­tic bag con­tain­ing a home­made shot­gun and a quan­ti­ty of as­sort­ed am­mu­ni­tion.

The op­er­a­tion was co­or­di­nat­ed by ACP Re­my, Snr Supt Bhag­wan­deen, Supt Glodon, ASP Ho­sein and In­sp Ram­per­sad. It was led by Ag Sgt Sama­roo un­der the su­per­vi­sion of PC Bowen, with sup­port from of­fi­cers of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force.

Mean­while, be­tween 10 pm on Thurs­day and 2 am on Fri­day, of­fi­cers at­tached to the North Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force con­duct­ed a rov­ing road check as part of Op­er­a­tion S.U.M.M.E.R Shield.

Around 12:40 am, of­fi­cers re­ceived a re­port that sus­pects want­ed in con­nec­tion with a re­cent rob­bery had been seen walk­ing near Scott Street, St Au­gus­tine.

A par­ty of of­fi­cers re­spond­ed, iden­ti­fied them­selves and ar­rest­ed the men.

The of­fi­cers then went to an­oth­er lo­ca­tion in St Au­gus­tine, where they en­coun­tered four more peo­ple who were al­so ar­rest­ed.

The sus­pects in­clude two boys, aged 14 and 15, and two men, aged 18 and 20, all from St Au­gus­tine.

The oth­er two sus­pects are men, aged 21 and 23, both from Arou­ca.
