Six people are in custody in connection with the killing of a Municipal Police Officer and the theft of firearms and ammunition at the Kings Wharf compound in San Fernando.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service stated that those detained include two Municipal Police Officers, two females and two males.
Officers of the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department, Special Branch and Special Investigations Unit conducted operations overnight. Police said the actions were based on intelligence and use of technology.
Police reported that firearms and ammunition linked to the incident were recovered. The items include 10 M&P pistols, 10 Glock 19 pistols, one Browning pistol, one Smith and Wesson pistol and 612 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro was present during operations in the early hours as the investigation continued.The TTPS stated that the investigation is ongoing. Police said the matter is at a stage where further details are not being released.
The incident relates to the killing of a Municipal Police Officer and the removal of firearms and ammunition from the compound.
The TTPS stated that efforts are continuing to identify and charge those involved. Police said updates will be provided as information becomes available.
