PM meets ExxonMobil operations manager on energy activities

Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar met with Exxon­Mo­bil Trinidad and To­ba­go Op­er­a­tions Man­ag­er Dr Bram Willem­sen to dis­cuss the com­pa­ny’s on­go­ing ac­tiv­i­ties and fu­ture op­por­tu­ni­ties in the en­er­gy sec­tor.

Willem­sen said Exxon­Mo­bil had found it eas­i­er to do busi­ness in Trinidad and To­ba­go, not­ing that the com­pa­ny se­cured the nec­es­sary ap­provals and com­plet­ed ad­min­is­tra­tive pro­ce­dures for seis­mic ac­tiv­i­ties faster than it had in any oth­er ju­ris­dic­tion.

He al­so ex­pressed op­ti­mism about the com­pa­ny’s on­go­ing tech­ni­cal work and the pos­si­bil­i­ty of find­ing hy­dro­car­bons that could ben­e­fit the coun­try’s econ­o­my.

Per­sad-Bisses­sar wel­comed Exxon­Mo­bil’s con­fi­dence and said the Gov­ern­ment re­mained com­mit­ted to cre­at­ing a busi­ness-friend­ly en­vi­ron­ment to at­tract for­eign in­vest­ment and fa­cil­i­tate the start of op­er­a­tions.

The meet­ing was al­so at­tend­ed by En­er­gy Min­is­ter Roodal Mooni­lal, For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs Min­is­ter Sean Sobers and Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries Ernesto Ke­sar.
