‘Nomo’ killed by cops in Pinto confrontation

A 46-year-old Pe­nal man who was want­ed by South­ern Di­vi­sion po­lice was shot and killed by of­fi­cers af­ter he al­leged­ly point­ed a gun at them at a house on Pin­to Road, Ari­ma, on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers from var­i­ous units, in­clud­ing the Home In­va­sion Team (HIT), went to the house on Pun­nette Av­enue at around 10.50 pm and sur­round­ed it.

The of­fi­cers an­nounced their pres­ence, and a woman opened the door. On see­ing the po­lice, she ran back in­side and up a stair­case.

Of­fi­cers en­tered the house, where they were con­front­ed by An­tho­ny Corn­wall, al­so known as “Nomo”, who al­leged­ly point­ed a gun at them.

Two of­fi­cers, one armed with a shot­gun and the oth­er with a Galil ri­fle, shot Corn­wall.

Of­fi­cers took Corn­wall to the Ari­ma Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he was de­clared dead at 11.09 pm.

A black Jen­nings 9 mm pis­tol loaded with five rounds of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion was seized.

The 30-year-old woman who was in the house at the time was de­tained by po­lice.

On Sep­tem­ber 11, 2025, a Pre­ven­ta­tive De­ten­tion Or­der (PDO) was is­sued for Corn­wall, stat­ing that he was af­fil­i­at­ed with a “rad­i­cal Is­lam­ic group”.

“The de­tainee (Corn­wall) and oth­ers are en­gaged in ex­tor­tion, mur­der and traf­fick­ing in firearms.

“The de­tainee and oth­ers plan to im­mi­nent­ly es­ca­late ex­pan­sion plans tar­get­ing ri­val gangs through pub­lic shoot­ings and re­tal­ia­to­ry killings us­ing high-pow­ered firearms,” the PDO stat­ed.
