The North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) has denied claims circulating on social media regarding the resignation of three registered nurses employed by the authority.

In a media release issued on Friday, the NCRHA said the claims were false and misleading and rejected suggestions that the nurses were connected to the recently opened Adult Medical Ward at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC).

The authority said none of the nurses referenced in the claims were assigned to or worked at the ward.

It also stated that the resignations were not linked to the operations or conditions at the facility.

According to the NCRHA, the nurses resigned because of personal circumstances, employment opportunities within another Regional Health Authority closer to their homes, and decisions to pursue further academic studies.

The authority said information being circulated online sought to create alarm and mistrust among staff and members of the public.

The NCRHA also condemned what it described as the spread of misinformation surrounding the matter.

The authority said it remained committed to providing healthcare services and maintaining communication with staff and the public.

The statement follows discussion on social media concerning staffing at the EWMSC and claims that nurses had resigned because of issues related to the Adult Medical Ward.

The NCRHA did not identify the nurses involved or state when the resignations took effect.

The authority urged the public to avoid spreading inaccurate information and to rely on official communication regarding matters involving the regional health authority.
