A 49-year-old man is in police custody after allegedly stabbing another man to death following an argument near a bar in Tacarigua on Sunday night.
Police said Nigel Foster was liming near a bar on Huggins Street at 6.30 pm when he became involved in an argument with another man.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Foster once in the upper leg.
Foster ran from the scene before collapsing near the corner of Deosaran Street while the attacker fled.
Officers from the Arouca Police Station and an ambulance responded to the incident. However, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) found no signs of life.
A district medical officer later visited the scene and pronounced Foster dead.
Hours later, around 8.30 pm, the suspect walked into the St Joseph Police Station, where police cautioned and arrested him.
Sources said the suspect had several minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment under police guard.
Officers of the Region II Homicide Bureau are continuing enquiries.
