Man shot after dropping off woman in east Port of Spain

A man is re­ceiv­ing treat­ment af­ter be­ing shot short­ly af­ter drop­ping off a woman in east Port of Spain on Wednes­day night.

Po­lice said the man was dri­ving a black Kia Cer­a­to along Pic­cadil­ly Street around 10:10 pm when he stopped to drop off a fe­male friend on Cal­vary Hill.

He re­port­ed hear­ing gun­shots as he stopped and drove off but lat­er felt a burn­ing sen­sa­tion in his back.

The man made his way to the Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion, where of­fi­cers as­sist­ed him and arranged for him to be tak­en to hos­pi­tal.

Of­fi­cers from the Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit vis­it­ed the scene and re­cov­ered five spent 9-mil­lime­tre shells.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors from the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
