A man is receiving treatment after being shot shortly after dropping off a woman in east Port of Spain on Wednesday night.
Police said the man was driving a black Kia Cerato along Piccadilly Street around 10:10 pm when he stopped to drop off a female friend on Calvary Hill.
He reported hearing gunshots as he stopped and drove off but later felt a burning sensation in his back.
The man made his way to the Besson Street Police Station, where officers assisted him and arranged for him to be taken to hospital.
Officers from the Crime Scene Investigations Unit visited the scene and recovered five spent 9-millimetre shells.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Department are continuing enquiries.
