Man pleads guilty to assaulting woman in San Fernando

A Pleas­antville man has plead­ed guilty to as­sault­ing a woman and was grant­ed bail pend­ing sen­tenc­ing.

Po­lice said that around 8.50 pm on Sun­day, PC Bish­op was on du­ty at the San Fer­nan­do Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Post on Pen­i­tence Street, San Fer­nan­do, when he ob­served Richard Fran­cis, al­so known as “Aqui,” of Cir­cu­lar Left, Pleas­antville, run­ning north along the street.

Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived, the of­fi­cer gave chase and de­tained Fran­cis a short dis­tance away.

Po­lice said PC Bish­op lat­er vis­it­ed the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he met Suzette Na­tal­ie Brad­shaw of Gon­za­les Trace, Pe­nal, who was re­ceiv­ing med­ical treat­ment for in­juries al­leged­ly sus­tained dur­ing an as­sault.

Based on the in­for­ma­tion gath­ered, Fran­cis was charged with as­sault oc­ca­sion­ing ac­tu­al bod­i­ly harm.

He lat­er ap­peared be­fore the San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trates' Court, where he plead­ed guilty to the charge.

The court grant­ed him bail in the sum of TT$5,000, and the mat­ter was ad­journed to Ju­ly 8 for sen­tenc­ing.
