A 20-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 23-year-old man whose body was found along Manzanilla Road in May.
Police said Jahim Picton, a self-employed labourer of Gajadhar Road, Sangre Chiquito, and Vaid Road, Shivan Drive, Sangre Grande, was charged with the murder of Raaian Ragoobar.
Ragoobar's body was found along Cocal Estate, Manzanilla Road, Manzanilla, on May 18.
Police said Picton was arrested on June 20 by Cpl Ali at an address along Vaid Road, Shivan Drive, Sangre Grande, following investigations by officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region II.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions advised police on June 25 to lay the murder charge through Ag ASP Victor and PC Subiah (Legal). PC Rambhajan charged Picton the following day.
Picton appeared before Master Ali on June 29. The matter was adjourned to November 19 for a sufficiency hearing.
The investigation was supervised by Ag ASP Victor, Sgt Radhaykissoon and PC Subiah (Legal), all attached to the HBI Region II.
