A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Arima in connection with multiple larceny investigations, with police recovering a blue cooler believed to have been stolen during a house break-in.
The arrest was made on Thursday during an exercise conducted by officers of the Northern Division Criminal Investigations Department (CID) between 6 pm and 9 pm on October 8.
Police said the exercise targeted several areas, including Calvary Hill, Mount Pleasant, Maturita, Phases One to Seven of La Horquetta and Greenvale.
During the operation, officers went to the corner of Woodford and Longden Streets, Arima, where they spotted the suspect, who was wanted in connection with multiple larceny incidents in the district.
He was arrested as investigations continued into house breaking and larceny, as well as storeroom breaking and larceny.
Following his arrest, the suspect reportedly directed officers to a bushy area in Calvary Hill, where they recovered a blue cooler believed to have been taken during a reported house-breaking incident.
The item was seized as evidence.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The exercise was spearheaded by Senior Superintendent Frank, Superintendent McKenzie and Assistant Superintendent Balewa. It was co-ordinated by Inspector David, Sergeant Marcano and Sergeant Forgine, and supervised by Woman Police Constable Arthur.
Police have not disclosed further details about the incidents under investigation.
