Energy ministers receive update on TTUD-1 operations

En­er­gy Min­is­ters met with rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the U.S. Em­bassy and Exxon­Mo­bil to re­ceive up­dates on op­er­a­tions linked to the ul­tra-deep block TTUD-1.

The U.S. Em­bassy del­e­ga­tion in­clud­ed Dr Jenifer Nei­d­hart de Or­tiz, Chargé d’Af­faires and Deputy Chief of Mis­sion, and Mr Char­lie J. Fran­ta III. The Exxon­Mo­bil del­e­ga­tion in­clud­ed Mr Paul Ri­ley, South Amer­i­ca Ex­plo­ration Man­ag­er, Mr Gboye­ga Ayeni, Up­stream Com­mer­cial Man­ag­er, and Am­bas­sador Craig Kel­ly (re­tired), Se­nior Di­rec­tor, In­ter­na­tion­al Gov­ern­ment Re­la­tions.

Exxon­Mo­bil re­port­ed that op­er­a­tions for TTUD-1 re­main on sched­ule. The com­pa­ny con­firmed the se­lec­tion of a seis­mic ac­qui­si­tion ven­dor. Exxon­Mo­bil stat­ed that seis­mic ac­qui­si­tion is ex­pect­ed to be­gin with­in six months of the Pro­duc­tion Shar­ing Con­tract sign­ing in Au­gust 2025. The first shot win­dow is pro­ject­ed for Feb­ru­ary 2026.

The En­er­gy Min­is­ters stat­ed that the Gov­ern­ment will sup­port the project through per­mit­ting and ap­provals process­es. The fo­cus will be on time­lines linked to the ex­e­cu­tion of the min­i­mum work pro­gramme un­der the con­tract.

The En­er­gy Min­is­ters and U.S. Em­bassy of­fi­cials reaf­firmed com­mit­ment to col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go and the Unit­ed States of Amer­i­ca in en­er­gy sec­tor mat­ters.

All par­ties stat­ed their in­ten­tion to con­tin­ue di­a­logue and com­mu­ni­ca­tion to sup­port the de­vel­op­ment of TTUD-1.
