The decomposing body of 74-year-old Selwyn Berkley was found at his home in Brazil Village just before midday on Saturday, police said.
Police said one of Berkley’s neighbours on Back Street went to check on him at his home at around 11.45 am, explaining that he had not seen him since September 9th.
On reaching his house, he detected a foul stench emanating from inside and called the police.
Officers of the Northern Division North visited the scene and entered the home where they found Berkley's decomposing body in a bedroom.
A district medical officer was called in who found no signs of violence on Berkley's body.
A funeral home was called in and took Berkley's body to their office for storage until an autopsy could be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, this week.
