A central man managed to escape to safety over the weekend, after he was abducted by two men he reportedly knew.
Police said Luke Rampersad, 25, managed to escape his abductors after being beaten about the head and body. Rampersad, of Dow Village, California, was reportedly abducted at around 8 pm on Saturday.
Police said he was taken by two men known to him, after they kicked open the front door and entered his residence. One of the men was armed with a long metal pipe. They grabbed Rampersad from his bed, dragged him out of the house, and forced him into a waiting vehicle, which then sped off in a northerly direction along Seventh Street, Dow Village, California.
Police carried out searches in and around the area, and two suspects were subsequently arrested.
An associate of Rampersad said the victim, who works as a grass cutter, managed to escape from his abductors and returned home around 4 am on Sunday, bearing bruises to his head and body.
The police were contacted and Rampersad was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment.
Enquiries are continuing.
