Angostura refurbishes cricket practice net at Blanchisseuse Secondary

Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Phillip Watts says partnerships between the Government, private companies, schools and communities can help create opportunities for young people, as he addressed the launch of Angostura’s refurbished cricket practice net at Blanchisseuse Secondary School.

Watts described the project as an investment in youth development, education and sport on the North Coast and in surrounding communities.

“This project is a powerful example of what can be achieved when Government, the private sector, schools, and communities work hand in hand toward a shared goal,” he said.

“We are not just cutting a ribbon on a refurbished cricket net; we are opening a pathway of opportunity for our young people here on the North Coast and in the neighbouring communities.”

Watts said the upgraded facility would allow students to develop their sporting abilities while building skills such as discipline and teamwork.

“When the private sector invests in youth development, it helps to build stronger schools, stronger communities, and a stronger nation,” he said.
