Patriotic Energy Services Limited (PESL) has endorsed the Government’s phased approach to restarting the Guaracara Refinery, describing it as a practical way to achieve a faster and more effective restart.

The revelations were made by Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo in Parliament during his Budget 2027 presentation today.

In a statement, PESL said the refinery’s return to operations was critical to strengthening Trinidad and Tobago’s energy security, revitalising economic activity and creating employment opportunities.

The company also said restarting the refinery could help restore confidence among communities and businesses that have historically depended on its operations and the wider energy sector.

PESL commended the Government’s commitment to a fiscally disciplined, commercially viable and fully financed approach to restarting the refinery, while safeguarding the national interest.

The company said it was committed to supporting a safe, secure, successful and sustainable restart that delivers lasting economic and social value for Trinidad and Tobago.
