Larceny suspect arrested, stolen cooler recovered

A 25-year-old man has been ar­rest­ed in Ari­ma in con­nec­tion with mul­ti­ple lar­ce­ny in­ves­ti­ga­tions, with po­lice re­cov­er­ing a blue cool­er be­lieved to have been stolen dur­ing a house break-in.

The ar­rest was made on Thurs­day dur­ing an ex­er­cise con­duct­ed by of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­sion Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID) be­tween 6 pm and 9 pm on Oc­to­ber 8.

Po­lice said the ex­er­cise tar­get­ed sev­er­al ar­eas, in­clud­ing Cal­vary Hill, Mount Pleas­ant, Ma­tu­ri­ta, Phas­es One to Sev­en of La Hor­quet­ta and Green­vale.

Dur­ing the op­er­a­tion, of­fi­cers went to the cor­ner of Wood­ford and Long­den Streets, Ari­ma, where they spot­ted the sus­pect, who was want­ed in con­nec­tion with mul­ti­ple lar­ce­ny in­ci­dents in the dis­trict.

He was ar­rest­ed as in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ued in­to house break­ing and lar­ce­ny, as well as store­room break­ing and lar­ce­ny.

Fol­low­ing his ar­rest, the sus­pect re­port­ed­ly di­rect­ed of­fi­cers to a bushy area in Cal­vary Hill, where they re­cov­ered a blue cool­er be­lieved to have been tak­en dur­ing a re­port­ed house-break­ing in­ci­dent.

The item was seized as ev­i­dence.

The sus­pect re­mains in po­lice cus­tody as in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ue.

The ex­er­cise was spear­head­ed by Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Frank, Su­per­in­ten­dent McKen­zie and As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent Bale­wa. It was co-or­di­nat­ed by In­spec­tor David, Sergeant Mar­cano and Sergeant Forgine, and su­per­vised by Woman Po­lice Con­sta­ble Arthur.

Po­lice have not dis­closed fur­ther de­tails about the in­ci­dents un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
