Masqueraders hoping to chip through the streets with Jade Monkey Carnival during Tobago Carnival 2026 will have to adjust their plans. In a press release, band leader Seon Anthony announced that the organisation has made the difficult decision to cancel its planned J’ouvert presentation, titled “Rise of the Empire”.
According to the official statement, the decision follows an in-depth evaluation of the current climate. Band management cited the prevailing economic environment alongside key operational challenges as the primary drivers behind the cancellation. Anthony explained that continuing under current conditions would compromise the high standards and quality experience masqueraders have come to expect from the brand.
“For us, Carnival is more than simply bringing a band to the road,” the release stated, emphasizing that any presentation bearing the Jade Monkey name must reflect the energy, creativity, and unmatched experience synonymous with the brand.
Despite pulling back from the J’ouvert road parade, Jade Monkey Carnival confirmed that it will not be stepping away from the festival entirely. The organizers assured revelers that they remain dedicated to contributing to the festivities through their signature Carnival event, F.A.W.W.
The leadership team expressed deep gratitude to masqueraders, partners, sponsors, and supporters for their continued patience, understanding, and confidence during this transition. Reassuring patrons that this is “not goodbye, but a moment to pause, regroup and look ahead,” management outlined immediate next steps for affected participants.
All registered masqueraders will be contacted directly by the Jade Monkey team regarding their registration details and upcoming arrangements. Masqueraders are advised to monitor the contact channels provided during registration for direct updates.
