T&T signs air services agreement with Chile

Trinidad and To­ba­go has signed an Air Ser­vices Agree­ment with Chile, es­tab­lish­ing a frame­work for air ser­vices be­tween the two coun­tries.

For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs Min­is­ter Sean Sobers signed the agree­ment on Wednes­day in New York on be­half of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Gov­ern­ment dur­ing the Unit­ed Na­tions Gen­er­al As­sem­bly.

The Trinidad and To­ba­go del­e­ga­tion was led by Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar.

The agree­ment is in­tend­ed to fa­cil­i­tate greater air con­nec­tiv­i­ty be­tween the Caribbean and South Amer­i­ca and sup­port tourism, trade, in­vest­ment and trav­el be­tween Trinidad and To­ba­go and Chile.

Trans­port and Civ­il Avi­a­tion Min­is­ter Eli Za­k­our said the agree­ment was an­oth­er step in the Gov­ern­ment’s ef­forts to ex­pand Trinidad and To­ba­go’s in­ter­na­tion­al avi­a­tion net­work.

The agree­ment fol­lows sim­i­lar agree­ments signed with Pana­ma and Ghana on Sep­tem­ber 21.

The Min­istry of Trans­port and Civ­il Avi­a­tion said it would con­tin­ue work­ing with lo­cal and in­ter­na­tion­al part­ners on air ser­vices arrange­ments.
