Miss T&T World proud of success

Miss Trinidad and To­ba­go World Geor­gia-Lee Gill re­turned home on Tues­day to a warm wel­come, af­ter be­ing crowned Miss World Caribbean at the 73rd Miss World pageant in Viet­nam.

When she en­tered the ar­rivals sec­tion at the Pi­ar­co In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port, Gill was met by drum­mers and a for­mer Miss T&T con­tes­tant, along with a con­tin­gent of sup­port­ers and pageant of­fi­cials.

Among those who greet­ed her were Deputy Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary Mar­tel Wal­dron, for­mer Miss World Giselle Laronde West and cre­ative di­rec­tor Richard Young.

Gill was con­grat­u­lat­ed on her achieve­ment and praised for her rep­re­sen­ta­tion of Trinidad and To­ba­go on the in­ter­na­tion­al stage.

She be­came on­ly the sixth woman from Trinidad and To­ba­go to earn the Miss World Caribbean ti­tle in the pageant’s 75-year his­to­ry.

The over­all Miss World ti­tle was won by Miss Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic Jo­heir­ry Mo­la.

Dur­ing the wel­come-home event, Gill was told that her achieve­ment had made the coun­try proud and that her jour­ney could in­spire oth­er young women to pur­sue their am­bi­tions.

Gill said she was par­tic­u­lar­ly proud of the ex­am­ple she had set for young women in Trinidad and To­ba­go.

“If it’s one thing I can say I’m in­cred­i­bly proud of is that I’ve set an ex­am­ple for many young women in Trinidad and To­ba­go to be brave. To be bold. To live your dreams,” Gill said.
