UNC councillor Vashti Sookhoo dies

Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress coun­cil­lor Vashti Sookhoo has died.

The UNC con­firmed her death in a state­ment ex­press­ing con­do­lences to Sookhoo’s fam­i­ly, friends, col­leagues, fel­low coun­cil­lors and oth­ers who worked with her.

The par­ty de­scribed Sookhoo as a “stal­wart” of the UNC and a ded­i­cat­ed pub­lic ser­vant who served her com­mu­ni­ty with ded­i­ca­tion and a com­mit­ment to res­i­dents.

The UNC said her death was a loss to the com­mu­ni­ty and the par­ty, adding that her con­tri­bu­tion would be re­mem­bered by those she served.

The par­ty ex­tend­ed con­do­lences to her fam­i­ly and said it hoped they would find strength and com­fort dur­ing their be­reave­ment.
