Cops kept busy as three killed over weekend

Three men were killed in sep­a­rate shoot­ings in Bel­mont and Ari­ma be­tween Fri­day and yes­ter­day morn­ing.

The first shoot­ing took place in Bel­mont ear­ly Sat­ur­day morn­ing but the vic­tim was on­ly found hours lat­er.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, around 3.04 pm, po­lice of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to a re­port of a body of a man ly­ing at the side of the road at Tex­tile Hill, La­dy Young Road, Bel­mont.

The man had ap­par­ent gun­shot in­juries and was pro­nounced dead by a Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer (DMO) at the scene, where crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors found five spent shells. The vic­tim was lat­er iden­ti­fied as 41-year-old Kwasi Dion Gill, of Beetham Gar­dens.

Gill was re­port­ed miss­ing by rel­a­tives on Fri­day night. He re­port­ed­ly left home to at­tend an event but did not ar­rive and did not an­swer calls to his cell­phone. Gill was em­ployed as a gen­der-based vi­o­lence case man­ag­er with the Fam­i­ly Plan­ning As­so­ci­a­tion of T&T.

The sec­ond and third mur­ders oc­curred with­in min­utes of each oth­er at Prince Street, Cal­vary Hill, Ari­ma.

Around 4.15 am, Re­on “Ram­bo” Thomas, 27, of By-Pass Road, Ari­ma, was re­port­ed­ly walk­ing along the road with his girl­friend when a car stopped along­side them.

An oc­cu­pant of the car got out and shot in their di­rec­tion be­fore re­turn­ing to the ve­hi­cle. Thomas was shot sev­er­al times and died on the scene while his girl­friend es­caped un­scathed.

A short while lat­er, the ve­hi­cle with the gun­men stopped in front of a car head­ing in the op­po­site di­rec­tion. One gun­man got out while the front seat pas­sen­ger leaned through the win­dow and both be­gan shoot­ing at the oth­er ve­hi­cle.

The dri­ver of the ve­hi­cle got out and ran away as his front seat pas­sen­ger, lat­er iden­ti­fied Ish­mael “Yam Yam” Vin­cent, 38, of Cal­vary Hill, Ari­ma, was be­ing shot.

Vin­cent died on the scene.

The ve­hi­cle be­ing shot at rolled down the in­cline af­ter be­ing aban­doned by the dri­ver and the gun­man in the car fell out on­to the road as his dri­ver drove for­ward to fol­low it. The gun­man ap­peared to re­load his gun be­fore run­ning to­wards the get­away ve­hi­cle and re-en­ter­ing along­side his ac­com­plice. The gun­men then drove away be­fore po­lice of­fi­cers ar­rived at the scene.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to the mur­ders.
