Couple charged with murder of Shyana Ruiz

The cou­ple who were de­tained in con­nec­tion with the death of 25-year-old Shyana Ruiz last Wednes­day, have been charged with mur­der.

Se­nior po­lice of­fi­cials con­firmed the charges were prof­fered to­day, fol­low­ing which they were ex­pect­ed to ap­pear in court.

Ruiz, of Quar­ry Road, Diego Mar­tin was stabbed mul­ti­ple times in the back, head, face, chest and hand, on Ju­ly 29.

The vic­tim, who worked at Lit­tle Cae­sar’s, Wood­brook – had re­port­ed­ly gone to her for­mer boyfriend’s home at Ed­in­burgh 500, Ch­agua­nas, to col­lect $4,500 that was owed to her.

Ruiz was al­leged­ly asked to col­lect the mon­ey and up­on ar­rival at the house, she be­came em­broiled in a heat­ed ar­gu­ment with her for­mer part­ner.

It was claimed that dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion, which took place in front of a rel­a­tive who had ac­com­pa­nied her – Ruiz was at­tacked and stabbed be­fore the cou­ple fled.

The man and woman were ap­pre­hend­ed hours lat­er by the po­lice.

Ruiz’s rel­a­tives ex­pressed re­lief af­ter learn­ing that charges had been laid.
