Police seize illegal gun and recover stolen wagon

Of­fi­cers as­signed to Op­er­a­tion R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. Shield seized a firearm, am­mu­ni­tion, and a stolen mo­tor ve­hi­cle dur­ing an in­tel­li­gence-led op­er­a­tion in the Mor­vant and Laven­tille dis­tricts.

The tar­get­ed ex­er­cise took place be­tween 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Tues­day. Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived, law en­force­ment per­son­nel car­ried out search­es across sev­er­al lo­ca­tions.

At ap­prox­i­mate­ly 5:40 p.m., of­fi­cers searched the at­tic area on the fourth floor of Build­ing 2 at the Do­ra­ta Street Plan­nings. The search yield­ed a sil­ver and brown firearm equipped with an ex­tend­ed mag­a­zine con­tain­ing 15 rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion. Of­fi­cers al­so dis­cov­ered a black bag near­by that held an ad­di­tion­al 49 rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion.

The weapon and am­mu­ni­tion were se­cured and tak­en to the Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tion De­part­ment at the San Juan Po­lice Sta­tion. Lat­er that evening, at around 8:30 p.m., pa­trolling of­fi­cers spot­ted a white Nis­san AD Wag­on parked un­der sus­pi­cious cir­cum­stances along the road­way in the Plai­sance Ter­race, Mar­cano Quar­ry, Bev­er­ly Hills area.

An in­spec­tion re­vealed that the ve­hi­cle’s doors were open, the ig­ni­tion had been tam­pered with, and a rear tri­an­gu­lar win­dow was shat­tered. In­ves­ti­ga­tors dis­cov­ered that the reg­is­tra­tion plates at­tached to the wag­on were fraud­u­lent. Fur­ther ver­i­fi­ca­tion with the In­ter-Agency Task Force Joint Com­mand con­firmed that the ve­hi­cle had been re­port­ed stolen from the La Hor­quet­ta Po­lice Dis­trict on Ju­ly 18. The wag­on was towed to the Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion for foren­sic pro­cess­ing.

The ex­er­cise was led by As­sis­tant Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Hazel, Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Ram­nar­ine, Su­per­in­ten­dent Ram­sook, and As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent Singh. Field co­or­di­na­tion and su­per­vi­sion were han­dled by Act­ing In­spec­tor Price.

Fol­low­ing the ini­tial com­mand, Hazel, Ram­nar­ine, Ram­sook, Singh, and Price over­saw the ex­e­cu­tion of the op­er­a­tion across both dis­tricts. En­quiries in­to both re­cov­er­ies are on­go­ing.
