The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) says it is continuing to manage water distribution across north east Trinidad as the Hollis Reservoir gradually recharges following improved inflows.
The Authority said while water levels at the reservoir have started to recover, inflows remain below what is required to return production to normal levels.
WASA said it is monitoring the reservoir around the clock and adjusting operations daily in an effort to maximise production and distribute available supplies as fairly as possible among affected communities.
Some customers may continue to experience reduced pipe-borne water supply or changes to their regular service schedules while the recovery process continues.
Among the affected areas are communities in Arima south of Broadway, Arima Old Road, Lynton Gardens, Cleaver Heights, Development, Sherwood Park, Olton Road, Beckles Lane, John Lane, Reid Lane Extension, Darwill Gardens, Lillian Heights, Foothill, Timberland Park, Pineridge, La Resource North and South, La Florissante North and South, Trestrail and surrounding areas.
WASA said as reservoir inflows continue to improve, it will progressively increase production and work towards restoring normal service to customers as quickly and safely as possible.
The Authority has urged customers in affected areas to assist by limiting non-essential water use while supplies remain constrained.
Updates on reservoir conditions and changes to distribution arrangements will be provided regularly, WASA said.
The Hollis Reservoir is one of the major sources of water supply for parts of north east Trinidad. Changes in rainfall patterns and reduced inflows can affect the Authority’s ability to maintain normal production levels, particularly during periods of dry weather.
Customers have been advised to monitor WASA’s updates through its official communication channels for further information on supply arrangements.
