New PowerGen board appointed

Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Util­i­ties Bar­ry Padarath has ap­point­ed a new Board of Di­rec­tors for the Pow­er Gen­er­a­tion Com­pa­ny of Trinidad and To­ba­go (Pow­er­Gen).

The ap­point­ments were an­nounced dur­ing an in­stal­la­tion cer­e­mo­ny at­tend­ed by Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of Pub­lic Util­i­ties Clyde El­der and Par­lia­men­tary Sec­re­tary Shiv­an­na Sam.

Ja­so­dra Ram­per­sad will serve as chair, with Nathan Je­re­mie as deputy chair. Omesh Ram­ber­ran and Hard­eo Ba­hall have al­so been ap­point­ed to the board.

Padarath told the new di­rec­tors they have a crit­i­cal role in en­sur­ing sound cor­po­rate gov­er­nance, main­tain­ing a re­li­able elec­tric­i­ty sup­ply and prepar­ing Pow­er­Gen to meet the coun­try’s evolv­ing en­er­gy needs.

He al­so reaf­firmed the Gov­ern­ment’s com­mit­ment to mod­ernising the pub­lic util­i­ties sec­tor through strate­gic lead­er­ship, in­no­va­tion and re­spon­si­ble man­age­ment of na­tion­al re­sources.

The min­istry said it ex­pects to work close­ly with the new board as Pow­er­Gen en­ters its next phase of growth and trans­for­ma­tion.
