Police arrested a suspect and seized a magazine issued to the T&T Police Service, as well as $19,000 in cash believed to have been stolen from a vehicle in Marabella on Friday.

Police said the theft occurred around 10.45 a.m. after an employee of a construction company withdrew $19,000 from Republic Bank in Marabella. The man reportedly parked near his home, leaving the cash inside his vehicle. When he returned a short time later, he discovered the money was gone.

Investigators reviewed CCTV footage, which allegedly showed the occupants of a silver Toyota Axio removing the cash from the vehicle before driving away.

Police said officers of the Gasparillo Operations Team responded quickly and, using CCTV footage, tracked the stolen vehicle from the Southern Division into the Northern Division.

Based on information received, officers found the Axio and searched the home of the registered driver in Phase 4, La Horquetta, where they found the 9mm magazine issued to the TTPS, along with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
