64-year-old killed by “fake” police

A 64-year-old man was gunned down on Wednes­day night and two oth­ers, in­clud­ing a 15-year-old girl, were shot.

Po­lice re­port­ed that around 11 pm, of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to re­ports of gun­shots at De­mer­ara Road, Ari­ma. When of­fi­cers ar­rived, they found Richard Mal­oney near the back door of his home with gun­shot wounds.

Po­lice said Mal­oney re­spond­ed to a knock on his door af­ter peo­ple shout­ed, “Po­lice, open up!” Mal­oney opened the door and two masked men opened fire, killing him and in­jur­ing a 45-year-old woman and the child.

The two in­jured vic­tims were tak­en to the Ari­ma Hos­pi­tal while Mal­oney died at the scene.

Po­lice re­cov­ered 16 spent shells and two live 9 mm rounds of am­mu­ni­tion at the scene.

No mo­tive was giv­en for the killing.
