Police hunt bald man who stole retired officer’s gun

Po­lice are search­ing for a bald man who al­leged­ly stole a li­censed firearm be­long­ing to a re­tired po­lice of­fi­cer in Cou­va on Tues­day.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, at 1.40 pm, the 55-year-old vic­tim was at his fruit stall along Ex­change Es­tate Road when he last saw his black can­vas tac­ti­cal bag.

The bag con­tained his Glock 19 firearm, his Firearm User's Li­cence (FUL), 30 rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion, two 9mm mag­a­zines, and his Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice badge and iden­ti­fi­ca­tion card.

The re­tired of­fi­cer told po­lice that the bag had been placed on a ta­ble in­side the stall.

Af­ter re­view­ing CCTV footage, he al­leged­ly saw a bald man en­ter the fruit stall pre­tend­ing to be a cus­tomer be­fore tak­ing the bag and walk­ing away.

The sus­pect was de­scribed as brown in com­plex­ion, bald, and was last seen wear­ing a grey T-shirt, dark blue short pants and a pair of slip­pers.
