Morvant man robbed of $70,000 in jewellery

A 42-year-old man was robbed of two gold chains val­ued at an es­ti­mat­ed $70,000 by ban­dits at the front door of his Mor­vant home ear­ly on Mon­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the man and his com­mon-law wife were about to en­ter their apart­ment at Al­mond Court around 3.30 am when they were con­front­ed by two ban­dits, one of whom was armed with a gun.

One of the ban­dits stole the man’s gold chains, cell­phone and car keys be­fore flee­ing.

Of­fi­cers of the Mor­vant CID and the Po­lice Cy­ber Crime Unit are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
