Two men shot dead in Siparia

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a dou­ble homi­cide af­ter two men were found shot dead along Tay­lor Av­enue, Quinam Road, Siparia, ear­ly this morn­ing.

One of the vic­tims was iden­ti­fied as 39-year-old Osie Pack­ette of Tay­lor Av­enue, Quinam Road, Siparia. The sec­ond vic­tim has not been iden­ti­fied.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to re­ports of loud ex­plo­sions in the area at about 1:55 a.m.

When they ar­rived, they found a man lat­er iden­ti­fied as Pack­ette ly­ing on the road­way with ap­par­ent gun­shot wounds. A sec­ond man was al­so found near­by with ap­par­ent gun­shot wounds.

The Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer vis­it­ed the scene and pro­nounced both men dead. Their bod­ies were lat­er re­moved pend­ing post-mortem ex­am­i­na­tions.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors re­cov­ered sev­er­al spent shell cas­ings and a knife from the scene as they processed the area for ev­i­dence.

Po­lice said en­quiries re­vealed that a white ve­hi­cle, the make and mod­el of which re­main un­known, was seen leav­ing Tay­lor Av­enue around the time of the in­ci­dent.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the killings are on­go­ing.
