Gasparillo man shot during home invasion

A Gas­par­il­lo man was shot and wound­ed af­ter two in­trud­ers broke in­to his home de­mand­ing mon­ey, drugs and a cell­phone.

Po­lice said around 2 a.m. on June 5, the man and a 28-year-old hair­dress­er, a Guyanese na­tion­al, were asleep at their Caratal Road home when the male vic­tim was awak­ened by two in­trud­ers.

One of the sus­pects re­port­ed­ly struck him re­peat­ed­ly across the face with a firearm while de­mand­ing mon­ey, drugs and a cell­phone.

The as­sailant then shot him on the left side of his neck.

The woman es­caped un­harmed af­ter run­ning from the house.

The sus­pects at­tempt­ed to steal the vic­tim's ve­hi­cle as they fled the scene but were un­suc­cess­ful.

The vic­tim was tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

Po­lice re­cov­ered five spent shells at the scene and in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
