A Gasparillo man was shot and wounded after two intruders broke into his home demanding money, drugs and a cellphone.
Police said around 2 a.m. on June 5, the man and a 28-year-old hairdresser, a Guyanese national, were asleep at their Caratal Road home when the male victim was awakened by two intruders.
One of the suspects reportedly struck him repeatedly across the face with a firearm while demanding money, drugs and a cellphone.
The assailant then shot him on the left side of his neck.
The woman escaped unharmed after running from the house.
The suspects attempted to steal the victim's vehicle as they fled the scene but were unsuccessful.
The victim was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment.
Police recovered five spent shells at the scene and investigations are ongoing.
