Intelligence-led anti-crime operations in the South Western Division have led to the arrest of three people and the seizure of a firearm and ammunition.
In a statement issued, police said around 5 pm on May 22, officers of the South Western Division Task Force (East and West), while on exercise duty, went to a residence at Lake View, Point Fortin, in accordance with Regulations 8 and 12 of the Emergency Powers Regulations, by virtue of Legal Notice No. 40 of 2026.
During a search of the premises, conducted in the presence of a 36-year-old man and his 19-year-old associate of Bhagaloo Street, Enterprise, officers discovered one Glock pistol fitted with a magazine containing six rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Both men were arrested as neither was the holder of a Firearm User’s Licence, a Firearm User’s Employee Certificate, nor exempted under Section 7 of the Firearms Act.
Further enquiries at the location also led to the recovery of one 75-inch Samsung television, which is suspected to have been stolen.
A 45-year-old woman, identified as the owner and occupant of the premises, was also detained in connection with the investigation.
The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt Thompson and coordinated by Ag ASP Corrie and Ag ASP Forbes.
