Cops rescue woman allegedly abducted, raped for months

Of­fi­cers from the San Fer­nan­do Po­lice Sta­tion have launched an in­ves­ti­ga­tion af­ter a woman re­port­ed that she was im­pris­oned by a man from Feb­ru­ary 27 to May 6 and sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ed and robbed.

In a state­ment yes­ter­day, the TTPS said the al­leged vic­tim, a 38-year-old woman from Mal­gretoute Road, Princes Town, re­port­ed that she was un­law­ful­ly de­tained and as­sault­ed by a 54-year-old male res­i­dent of Princess Mar­garet Street, San Fer­nan­do.

Po­lice said the woman claimed the in­ci­dents be­gan on Fri­day, Feb­ru­ary 27, when she vis­it­ed the sus­pect’s res­i­dence to col­lect mon­ey owed. She al­leged that the sus­pect pre­vent­ed her from leav­ing and un­law­ful­ly took per­son­al prop­er­ty, in­clud­ing cash and iden­ti­fi­ca­tion doc­u­ments. The vic­tim fur­ther re­port­ed that be­tween March 1 and May 6, she was sub­ject­ed to sex­u­al as­sault by the sus­pect.

Po­lice said on May 6, of­fi­cers on mo­bile pa­trol saw the vic­tim in dis­tress on a road­way in San Fer­nan­do and lat­er ar­rest­ed the 54-year-old sus­pect.

The vic­tim was ex­am­ined by med­ical per­son­nel, who doc­u­ment­ed in­juries con­sis­tent with as­sault.

The sus­pect is in po­lice cus­tody.
