Woman alleges months-long assault and detention in San Fernando

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing al­le­ga­tions of sex­u­al as­sault, rob­bery, false im­pris­on­ment and as­sault in­volv­ing a 38-year-old woman from Mal­gretoute Road, Princes Town, and a 54-year-old man from Princess Mar­garet Street, San Fer­nan­do.

Ac­cord­ing to a me­dia re­lease, of­fi­cers at­tached to the San Fer­nan­do Po­lice Sta­tion are lead­ing the in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to the in­ci­dent, which the woman said be­gan on Feb­ru­ary 27, 2026.

The woman told in­ves­ti­ga­tors she vis­it­ed the sus­pect’s home to col­lect mon­ey she said was owed to her. She al­leged that af­ter ar­riv­ing at the res­i­dence, the man pre­vent­ed her from leav­ing and took sev­er­al per­son­al items, in­clud­ing cash and iden­ti­fi­ca­tion doc­u­ments.

Po­lice said the woman fur­ther al­leged that be­tween March 1 and May 6 she was sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ed by the sus­pect while be­ing un­law­ful­ly de­tained.

The mat­ter came to the at­ten­tion of of­fi­cers on Wednes­day, May 6, when po­lice on mo­bile pa­trol ob­served the woman in dis­tress along a road­way in San Fer­nan­do.

Of­fi­cers in­ter­vened and ar­rest­ed the 54-year-old sus­pect at the scene.

Po­lice said the woman was tak­en to the Mon Re­pos Po­lice Sta­tion, where she gave a state­ment to in­ves­ti­ga­tors. She was lat­er ex­am­ined by med­ical per­son­nel, who doc­u­ment­ed in­juries that po­lice said were con­sis­tent with as­sault.

The sus­pect re­mains in po­lice cus­tody pend­ing fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

Po­lice have not yet dis­closed whether charges have been laid.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries in­to the mat­ter and are urg­ing any­one with in­for­ma­tion that may as­sist the in­ves­ti­ga­tion to con­tact the San Fer­nan­do Po­lice Sta­tion or pro­vide in­for­ma­tion through of­fi­cial po­lice chan­nels.

The re­lease did not state whether the sus­pect and the com­plainant were pre­vi­ous­ly known to each oth­er be­yond the al­leged fi­nan­cial dis­pute.
