Kamla condemns White House dinner attack

Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar has con­demned the at­tack at the White House Cor­re­spon­dents’ Din­ner, ex­press­ing re­lief that Don­ald Trump, the First La­dy, and oth­ers in at­ten­dance were not harmed.

In a so­cial me­dia post, Per­sad-Bisses­sar said she was re­lieved that all of­fi­cials and guests were safe fol­low­ing the in­ci­dent.

She al­so com­mend­ed the Unit­ed States Se­cret Ser­vice for what she de­scribed as swift ac­tion in ap­pre­hend­ing the shoot­er and ex­tend­ed best wish­es to the in­jured of­fi­cer.

Per­sad-Bisses­sar said she strong­ly con­demns all acts of vi­o­lence against de­mo­c­ra­t­ic in­sti­tu­tions and added that her thoughts are with those af­fect­ed and trau­ma­tised by the in­ci­dent.

She added that she is con­cerned the at­tack rep­re­sents an­oth­er at­tempt tar­get­ing Pres­i­dent Trump and said she is pray­ing for his con­tin­ued safe­ty and for the peo­ple of the Unit­ed States.
